The focus on our farm since we started in the sheep business has been on developing a flock with consistent and profitable maternal genetics. We have found that the cross between Dorset and Rideau Arcott is a nice balance where the ewes have strong maternal instincts and will consistently give multiple births. At the same time the ewes also produce solid, vigorous lambs that dont need special attention. We select our ewelambs shortly after they are born. All of our ewelambs are multiple births from mothers that are prolific, have strong maternal instincts and can handle the extra stress of an accelerated lambing cycle. We have not removed any from this group for ourselves. All recieved their 2nd shot of Tasvax 8 and Valbazen after weaning and will be treated with Vetolice prior to the sale. Most of the Dorset influence comes from Gredanius rams. Our purebred Rideau Arcott genetics originated from Fensom Farms in SK and Medicine Ridge Ovine.
